What the Renaissance Festival?

So, we did eventually go to the Renaissance Festival! Shawna and I had planned on going this past Wednesday, so we bought our tickets at Fry's and drove all the way out to Apache Junction and drove right back because the Renaissance Festival is not open during the weekdays, only the weekends!!! So, I decided to return my tickets back at Fry's because a lady said that I could and when I went back, they said that I couldn't. So, we decided to make a trip to the Renaissance Festival on Saturday.

The Renaissance Festival was reminiscent of when I was at BYU. It was like seeing all the people on the lawn at BYU with their swords and their medieval outfits. Aaah... the good old days... :) I felt right at home... hahaha... It was fun, but it is definitely DIFFERENT. We felt out of place and a little overwhelmed. But everyone should have the opportunity to go to it at least once in their lifetime, right?

This is the glass blower man that I thought was really cool. He made a really nice vase and I wanted to buy it, but didn't have time. He was really smart and knew a lot about glass. Sometimes he was too scientific, that it was hard to listen. Really smart guy...

They had a jousting tournament that I thought was interesting. They have you sit in sections where you cheer for your knight. We had this knight and he actually won. It's probably all staged, but it was pretty cool that he won, made the show worth it to watch.

They had a little knighting ceremony for the kids. I remember someone telling me about the tremendous amount of cleavage that we would be seeing. They were definitely right about that! For sure not cute cleavage. This one is pretty ok... but for sure not something that I want to see.

Emi was so scared of this knight. It was just a statue, but she didn't want to stand next to it.

AND... this made the trip out to Apache Junction worth it. TURKEY LEG!!!

sorry! What a pain. I'm glad you guys went but I'm sure it was stressful going the same day your family flew into town. I feel awful that I was the one that dragged you out there only to be turned away. I'm retarded! At least you got your turkey leg experience! This doesn't mean that you won't go next year with me does it? LOL!

In the spirit of the Renaissance festival, I congratulate you for your courage to attend this event... but really... YOU WENT TO A RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL?!?! I was always afraid of the crazies dressed up in medieval garb on the lawn at BYU... they had swords and looked serious about using them!! :) On a side note, I once did a triathlon in California, and apparently the park that the triahtlon was at in the morning was also scheduled to host a Renaissance festival at noon... needless the say the pictures were fabulous... lots of people in either spandex or renaissance-y stuff. :)

I don't remember Renaissance people at BYU. I just remember the bagpipers. But then I went back in the old days.

Looks like you had a more family friendly experience at the Renaissance Festival than us. Somehow we kept finding the wrong stuff.

I can't believe you went to the Renaissance Festival. How funny. I loved the reference to BYU. How true, how true. ha. That turkey leg looks good! I almost got one the other week when I was at the Livestock show in Houston, but last minute didn't. Now I'm wishing I had. Tell Blaine hi for us!
